English learning process

Hi there! This post is about the English learning process at University during this year.
Learning English this year at the University has been a nice experience because we use different and creative methodologies that made the experience funnier.
English is not difficult for me, but in the school I had a really bad teacher and we hate each other, so he always made my life harder trying to put me bad marks, but he couldn’t because I was good. But this year classes have been nice, using blogs is something different, and it’s good because it helps you to be creative at the same time you are improving your writing, and also you can know things you didn’t know about your classmates.
Anyway I think that there are still some things I need to improve of my English, like my pronunciation and some problems I have talking in English, I think that’s a bit difficult for me because I don’t have ways to practice English, but maybe it can be improved by practicing songs I like in English, and trying to talk in English with foreign people if I have the opportunity.

Finally, outside the English class I’m not using English these days because all my classes are in Spanish and the people I know doesn’t speak English in the normal life. Last semester I have to read a text in English for a test, it was hard at first, but finally I could read and understand it. I really need to know English to do that kind of things.

2014

Hello, hello! This post is about the good and the bad things of 2014.
This year has been a nice year from me, I’ve had too much good things and some other bad ones, but absolutely more good than bad things.
Part of those good things is that I’ve made a lot of friends. Some of them in my first job at Bravissimo in the summer vacations, and in the university I have known a lot of nice people, I’ve made good friends in here and every time I’m knowing more people, that’s nice because I like people very much. This year (in February) I also started a relationship with an old friend of mine, and we have a really good relationship, we like to go camping and that kind of things, so it’s really fun. I also have had good marks this year at the university, at first I thought it was going to be really hard for me, but I like the career very much.
Situations that didn’t go so well are the things in my home, this year (a month ago) I left my mom’s house for some particular problems and now I’m living with my dad. That’s not so terrible, but it has been difficult for me.
My best achievement this year was to get in the University and the career I wanted since 2 or 3 years ago, I’m really proud of that, and have goods marks also is something nice for me because my school was not very good.

Those are events to highlight: to be in the university, made good friends and have a good relationship, bye bye!

The Cure

Hi everyone! Today’s post is about an old band I like very much: The cure
The Cure is an English band born in 1976, which plays alternative rock, the singer of this band is Robert Smith and he is very special because of his style and voice. The truth is that their music is more than alternative rock, I think they play music full of emotions that can’t be classified. Some of their music is really dark, and you can listen them when you are depressed or angry, they have beautiful love songs and happy songs that I like to hear when I’m happy, and the lyrics of their songs are really creative, you can see that in songs like ‘Lullaby’, which is about a boy who is scared of a spiderman that appears at night, and in ‘Lovecats’, which is about love between cats.
I like this band since I’m 12 years, and it’s very weird because they are old, people of my age don’t use to know them so I can’t talk about them very much, but that doesn’t matter because they are really really cool.

They came to Chile last year and made an amazing concert at the Estadio Nacional, I went (of course) with my history teacher and his wife (both friends of mine) and it was like a dream because I’ve always loved that band, and it was the first at only time they came.

How green I am?

Hi everyone! Today’s post is about how green I am.
I don’t really know how green I am, the truth is that I try to be the most green I can be, but sometimes is difficult because in Chile there are no conditions to take care of the environmental. From the state the laws are weak, people and companies don’t use to respect them, and when there are some projects to recycle or that kind of things, they only come from the municipality (and not all the municipalities in Chile have the same will or budget to take care from environmental stuff).
Anyway, people can learn about environmentally friendly practices in books, tv programs (in 13c channel are lots of them) and mostly on internet. I think that searching on the internet is the best way to learn about environmentally friendly practices, because there is a lot of information and it’s easy to find.
I try to incorporate recycling to my habits the most I can. For example, I haven’t bought notebooks since I am in the university because I’m re-using my notebooks from the school (They have a lot of empty pages), I prefer to repair broken things instead of buying and that kind of things, I also like to walk (I don’t have a car anyway) and use the public transport. I know is not very much, but that is the easier way to recycle and be green for me.

I have never taken part in an environmental organization because priorities for me are in other topics, but I think that the work that those people do is really important.

A nice job

Hi everyone! Today’s post is about a job I would like to have in the future.
My idea of a good job is to work with people and help them with projects to make their life conditions better, maybe in a hospital or a school or Sename, or any kind of institution that helps people. I imagine my job in the south of Chile, because when I end my career and after working a couple of years in Santiago I want to live in there, I don’t know yet where exactly in the South, but I want to live there.
I don’t know if I prefer an indoors or an outdoors work, I think it depends on what kind of work is it, it sounds attractive anyway to work outdoors but if I want to work in an institution just as I mentioned, is a bit difficult that they have just outdoors works, maybe I will visit places sometimes, but I don’t know.
It would be nice for me to travel a lot. I like the idea of meet different realities and people and learn from people about their problems and conditions of life. That’s why an office job would be very sad for me.

I think I’ll take a major in other university in the south, maybe Concepción o Temuco, with topics relatives to the work I want to have.

General cemetery

Hi everyone! Today’s post is about the General Cemetery of Santiago
This morning I went to the General Cemetery for a work in group with 5 classmates of the university. We are making an ethnographical work about how does people express the popular religiosity in the graves and the memories of their relatives, we are also trying to connect the popular religiosity with the social stratification in the cemetery, and we also want to see how the people keep the memories of the disappeared detainees and the persons executed for political reasons.
The General Cemetery was founded by Bernardo O’Higgins 192 years ago, it was really important in that time because just the Catholic church had cemeteries and the people who were not catholic didn’t had a place to bury their dead. It is placed at Profesor Alberto Zañartu Avenue at the commune of Recoleta, in the subway station called Cerro Blanco.
Nowadays the General Cemetery of Santiago is considerate an open museum, an important historical place because there is a lot of important people of the Chilean history who is in there. Today we went, for example, to the grave of Salvador Allende, Violeta Parra, Manuel Rodriguez, and there are other important places like the “Patio 29” and the memorial.

The General Cemetery is a nice place to visit, everyone should know it.

My best concert: Festival el abrazo

I've been to many concerts but definitely the best one is the Festival El Abrazo on December 11th at 2010. It was at the O'higgins park and it's duration was about 8 or 9 hrs from 15pm to 12 or 1am.
There were 20 chilean and argentinian artists like Los Bunkers, Lucybell, Babasónicos, Beto Cuevas, Charly García, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Los Tres, Fito Páez, Vicentico, Los Jaivas and a lot more of the best rock artist from Chile and Argentina. Gustavo Cerati was invited too, but he had his accident on may 15th of 2010, so he didn't go but everyone tribute his music and legacy.
I went with two friends, Belen and Marcopolo, both my best friends in that time. We get there at 8am to wait, so the day was exhausting but the concert was excellent. The atmosphere was good because the people who went there was people like me with the same interests of chilean and argentinian music. I remember a very special moment when Leon Gieco played the song “Solo le pido a dios” that made my cry and everyone went silent.

A funny memorie of that day is that all day it was sunny and warm and in the night it started to rain. The show from Charly Garcia started and he was very angry  saying crazy things because they were some technical problems.
